City of Hobbs, New Mexico Chooses PDS to Handle Their Document Management Requirements

EL PASO, TX March 31, 2008 – Professional Document Systems announced today the
installation of ApplicationXtender, ApplicationXtender Web Access, and Optical
Character Recognition (OCR) Software at the offices of the City of Hobbs, New Mexico.
PDS was able to meet all of the requirements of the City, which included an enterprise-
class solution that would handle all of the city’s various departments, including the City
Clerk, Engineering, and the Water Department seamlessly. “We are proud to work with
the City of Hobbs,” said Matt Bowman, President of PDS. “They were concerned about
ease of use, and secure storage of all their irreplaceable records. PDS created a solution
including ApplicationXtender that gave them all of the benefits they were asking for,
along with the benefits of having their records at their fingertips, saving the employees
of the city valuable time.”
PDS proposed a software solution consisting of ApplicationXtender by EMC to scan and
manage their documents, along with ApplicationXtender Web Access to allow online
access to imaged documents, while adding OCR which allows reading and indexing of all
documents in storage, including records over 50 years old. Now instead of searching
through archives for copies of old records, they will be accessible from any city of Hobbs
workstation.
Additionally, PDS is providing for the City five Canon Scanners that will allow the city
employees to scan in their old documents themselves, with the ability to scan in new
records as they are generated. .”
